Veto is the power granted to the head of state by the constitution to and he/she is in a position to reject a proposal made by a law making body.
When the president fails to sign the bill within the 10 day period after a veto, the passage of a bill will be hindered or prevented. This is called a pocket veto and it can no longer be overridden by the legislation. The president can also urge the lawmakers or the lawmaking body to do certain changes for the bill to be acceptable. The congress can also override a veto by passing the act by two thirds in the both house which are the lower and the upper houses.
