Technology is a way that people use to gather new and more information to further technology even more, which goes on in a cycle.
For example, after the first telescope was made, we noticed new planets in the outer reaches of the solar system, so we eventually kept building more and more telescopes to see past those objects as well, so that we can get a close up look at the next galaxy over, and then the next cluster of galaxies over, until we can now basically map the entire observable universe.
