One of the first steps in determining a poem's form is DETERMINING ITS RHYME SCHEME.
The first step is to hear what is going on in the poem. Simply read the poem aloud and listen to your voice. Determine whether you notice any special effects, whether you hear the words rhyming, whether there are cluster of sounds that seem similar or the same, and whether there are parts of the poem that is distinct from the rest of the poem.
