Alternate angles are also equal, therefore,


[tex]8x+y=100---(2)[/tex]



Equation (2) minus equation (1) gives,

[tex]\Rightarrow x=10[/tex]




We put [tex]x=10[/tex] in to equation (1)





[tex]4(10)+y=60[/tex]



[tex]y=60-40[/tex]
