There is a set of twins on the island named Sam and Eric. However, when describing them, Golding regularly refers to them as Samneric. How does this way of describing the twins relate to their behavior and the way that readers understand their characters? What examples of their behavior help readers see that Samneric is really the appropriate way to refer to them?

Sam and Eric are twins. Though they are two individuals, they are identified as one with the nickname "Samneric". 

Their companions can't tell them apart so instead of using their names, their friends combined their names and used it to address any one of the twins. 

Samneric do things together.  They think alike. Basically, they are identical in all ways from physical appearance to their characters.

Sam and Eric are identical twins. It was very difficult for the characters to recognize which one was which that is why they were dubbed Samneric. This way when a twin is called Samneric other characters won't need to identify which twin they were talking to. Sam and Eric became one entity.

Sam and Eric were characterized as good, ordinary people who are not strong enough to resist the lures of evil. Even to the extent of fighting one another.
