Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex abbreviated as PDC is a bundle of three enzymes named pyruvate dehydrogenase (Cofactor is Thiamine pyrophosphate), dihydrolipolyl transacetylase (Cofactor is Lipoate coenzyme A) and dihydrolipolyl dehydrogenase (Cofactor is FAD & NAD+). This combination heps in conversion of pyruvate into acetyl-CoA with the help of mechanism named “Pyruvate decarboxylation”. Major application of this conversion is acetyl-CoA used in citirc acid cycle in order to process cellular respiration. PDC is an agent which connects glycolysis metabolic pathway to the citirc acid cycle.This complex involve number of prokaryotes and eukaryotes subunits.
