When a neuron sends information down the axon is called an Action potentials also known as a spike or impulse.It sent information as a packet of messages.
Neurons send signal release chemicals called neurotransmitter . These transmitters bins with a receptors on their surface of the receiving neuron.They are release from presynaptic terminals which branch to communicate with several postsynaptic neurons.
Information is passed by the axon of the potential , when action potential reaches the ends of the axon it needs to be transferred to another neuron or tissues. The dendrites of neurons receive information from sensory receptors or other neurons.
