We know the properties of hydrogen atoms well from studying them in laboratories on earth. a fundamental idea in astronomy is that anywhere else in the universe, a hydrogen atom is identical to this one.

Hydrogen, symbolized by the letter H, is the most basic atom in the universe. This article is made up of one electron and one proton. When the spin orientation of its electrons changes, the hydrogen atom, also referred to as HI, produces a radio photon with a radio frequency of 1420 MHz.

When hydrogen is ionized, it loses its electron and splits into a single proton. This is referred to as HII. In the presence of massive stars, hydrogen gas is ionized by ultraviolet radiation, creating a vast sphere of ionized material known as an HII zone or "Stromgren sphere." The molecule that hydrogen spontaneously creates with additional hydrogen atoms is known as H2.
