At the conclusion of the War of 1812, the Battle of New Orleans took place. That conflict with Britain put an end to problems that persisted after the American Revolution. Even after signing a peace pact with Britain, the Battle of New Orleans was still waged.

When the British came in the region, Major General Andrew Jackson was in New Orleans getting ready to defend the city. The British took control of a plantation near New Orleans on December 23. The British suffered perhaps their worst setback when several of their officers were murdered.
