Eminent domain is the power to take private property for public use by a state, municipality, or private person or corporation authorized to exercise functions of public character, following the payment of just compensation to the owner of that property. For example the authority of Federal state, and local government to take private property for public use, providing just compensation to the owner. In this case an example would be state or a government that evicts people by forcing them to sell their homes and lands to build a highway.
Example of eminent domain is a country forces people to sell their homes in order to build a highway.
Eminent domain is termed as a legal strategy whereby it allows local government and federal to seize private property from being used by public.
