Name the greatest baroque composer, whose life and works affected many composers which came after him and gives us a standard by which to judge music from this time period.

Johan Sebastian Bach was German composer and musician in period of Baroque (17th century). His life and works affected many composers that came after him and gave a standard by which to judge music from this time period. Bach was even regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time since 19th century. He is best known for his instrumental compositions “Brandenburg Concertos”, “Goldberg Variations”, and vocal music “St Matthew Passion” and the “Mass in B minor”.
